VICTOR SWIM CLUB: 2023 NIAGARA LSC LONG COURSE CHAMPIONS

Mike Murray

On behalf of our coaching staff and our Board of Directors, thank you for all your support over the course of the 2023 Niagara LSC Long Course Championship. It’s our great honor to announce that our athletes have won our 7th Niagara Team Championship!

2023 marks the 48th year of existence of the Victor Swim Club. This past March our athletes were narrowly defeated by a very strong STAR swim club in the Short Course competition by a mere 51 points.

These last 4 months we have used the phrase “ Team 48 will find 51. ” The swimmers supported each other and found ways to get the job done. This was a total team effort, from our 10 & under swimmers to our collegiate athletes, from all of our locations, and every coach in our program.

Winning a team championship is a very special moment in the life of your child. For some, this experience may be their only one. For others, it will represent the instant they realized the power of their dedication, commitment, and consistent approach to the nuanced, meticulous process of progression that leads to inevitable success.

We are all fortunate to have Victor Swim Club in our lives. There are so many aspects of our team that remind us why we participate in sports. Learning to face adversity, challenges, taking risks, and having courage are all important tenets of development, however, finding joy in the success of others is perhaps the most significant lesson we can teach our athletes.

Life should be about lifting each other up, celebrating the achievements of our friends, finding the value of family in our communities, and genuinely taking the time to let our supporters know how special their time and energy is to us. I hope that this membership knows how thankful our staff is for all of you.

Tough love is an overused expression, however, that doesn’t compromise the value associated with creating challenges for our swimmers to learn to overcome on their own. Discovering solution pathways is a critical piece of maturation. As coaches, teachers, and parents we must resist the contemporary cultural trend of intervening in every emotional moment that our children are presented with.

Our staff will continue to lead with trust, commitment, and belief in this club family, and we hope you continue to play a role in the journey of Victor Swim Club.

Sincerely,

Coach Mike
