Dan Burke Head coach/Senior group coach

Dan Burke, one of Victor Swim Club's finest alumni, is the Victor Swim Club Head Coach and Lead Senior Group Coach for the 2024-2025 season. He joined the Victor Swim Club staff as the Associate Head Coach & lead Senior Prep Coach in June 2021. Dan comes to us from Wabash College, where he began coaching in June 2018. During his three seasons with Wabash, the swimming and diving team re-wrote the record books. At the 2019 NCAC Conference Championship, the Wabash men scored the most amount points in team history.  

Prior to his time at Wabash he spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the men's and women's teams at Nazareth College. He helped the Golden Flyers set seven new school records in addition to earning Scholar All-America Team honors. The 2017-18 Nazareth men's team finished the season undefeated for the first time in school history. The men's and women's teams combined to break 11 records in 2017-18.

Burke competed at Nazareth, earning Team MVP honors all four seasons. He served as team captain for two seasons and won the conference title in the 100 backstroke in 2016. Burke also earned Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association in 2016. Burke graduated from Nazareth in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration.

Burke is one of six assistant coaches selected to receive the 2019 Jean Freeman Scholarship from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Scott Wisner Associate Head Coach/Senior Prep Coach

Coach Wisner has been a swimmer and a coach in nearly every level of swimming over his 42 years in competitive swimming.  In Watertown, NY, he was a member of the Watertown Y Swim Club competing at Y and USS meets and swam for Watertown High School there.   He also swam for Bettendorf High School and Bettendorf Park Board Swim Club.  In college, he swam distance events for the University of Iowa.  And later, he swam as a Masters swimmer for Syracuse Masters Swim Club.  Throughout his swimming career, he’s competed or qualified for most levels of competition.  He was a high school state champion both in New York and in Iowa in the 500 free, was a member of an Iowa High School Championship team, finalist at Junior Nationals, a finalist and member of two Big Ten championship teams and a medalist at Masters Zones and Nationals.
 

His coaching career started while he was in high school helping with the younger Y swimmers and assisting with the girls high school team (tough duty for a high school guy). He was both an Assistant and Head Coach with the Watertown Y Swim Club, Assistant Coach with Iowa City Swim Club, Graduate Assistant at The University of Iowa, Co-Head Coach with the Leatherstocking Hawks Swim Club (Utica, NY) and Head Coach with the Fort Lauderdale Swim Team.  Swimmers he has coached have competed at Y States and Nationals, Empire State Games, high school state championships in New York, Iowa and Florida, Junior and Senior Nationals as well as several going>
     

Coach Wisner is a Level 4 coach in the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA).  On the side, he is a second-degree black belt in Goju Ryu Karate and has worked for 20 years with the Rotary Youth Exchange program.  He is married to Amy, a former All-American swimmer at Ithaca College and is the father of two swimmers, Kai and Taryn.

Karen Senglaub Executive Director/Developmental Coach
Karen Senglaub is the Victor Swim Club's Executive Director and Lead Developmental Coach. She has been part of the Victor Swim Club since 2011 and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2016. She served as club president from 2018-2024, handling all administrative tasks for the club. A former swimmer, and currently an ASCA Level 3 certified coach, Karen began coaching our Developmental group in 2021. She loves working with our youngest athletes as they are introduced to the sport of swimming.
 
Karen has a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and has worked as an orthopedic physical therapist for over 30 years. She lives in Victor with her husband Neal and has 3 daughters, Alex(31), Katie(21) and Emma(21). Katie & Emma began swimming with the Victor Swim Club at the age of 7 and are now coaching collegiate programs while attending graduate school.
Michael Murray High Performance Consultant

Mike Murray remains a high-performance club consultant for the 2025-26 season.

Coach Murray was the Victor Swim Club Head Coach and Program Director from 2013-2017 and 2019-2024. and led the Victor Swim Club to 8 Niagara LSC Championships. Throughout the 2020-2021 seasons Coach Murray was instrumental in helping guide Victor Swim Club, and assist many other teams, in navigating the global Coronavirus Pandemic. Since 2022, Victor Swim Club has continued to reach new success, at both the regional & national levels, culminating in a 2024 Niagara LSC Long Course Team Championship, and placing several athletes in the top 25 at Zones, Sectionals, Futures, Junior Nationals, TYR Pro Series, and Open Water National Championship events. Over the course of Murray's 9 years with the Victor Swim Club, Victor has earned the USA Swimming Club Recognition Level 4 Achievement Award, as well as the prestigious USA Swimming Bronze Medal for Club Excellence in both 2015, 2016 & 2017 and 2023. 

Coach Murray travels worldwide to help coaches and teams grow the sport of swimming, and to help coaches professionally organize and develop their teams. He is a board member of the American Swimming Coaches Association and served as board president from 2022-2024.

Coach Murray is currently the Albany Academy Assistant Director of Athletics/Director of Aquatics.

 

Amy Wisner Performance Group Coach

Amy Wisner has coached since 2012.  She has coached primarily development and intermediate at Victor Swim Club since 2016. She started competitive swimming in the Buffalo area when she was 4.  Along her swimming career Amy was able to participate in Zones, Empire State Games (age group and Masters), NYSPHS championships, Division III National Championships and Master’s Nationals.  Coach Amy (aka Mrs Wisner) is married to the other Coach Wisner, Scott, and is the mother of swimmers Kai and Taryn.  Kai is a masters student athlete at UMBC and Taryn is a student athlete at Denison. Both have swum at Victor since 2015. Amy and Scott live in Syracuse but spend a bit of time in the Victor area.
Kristy Shields Intermediate Group Coach

Kristy will be coaching our Intermediate group swimmers for the 2024-25 season. She has been a Victor Swim Club coach since 2002, was the 8 & under head coach from 2007 to 2013, the head Intermmediate coach from 2013 to 2016, and has spent the last 8 years working with our Developmental group.  She has been teaching swim lessons or coaching swimming since 1996.  She has a BA in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education/Special Education from Nazareth College.  During the day, she teaches students with disabilities.  She is married to Scott Shields, with whom she has a son named Zachary and a daughter named Melody. 

Her swimming career began with Victor Swim Club at the age of 9.  She was a multiple Section Five champion in individual events (100 free, 200 free) and team relays, qualifying for States for 4 years and was a school record holder at the Victor High School in the 100 free and 2 team relays.  Kristy finished her competitive swimming career at Washington & Jefferson College setting two school records and being a 2 time Conference champion in each the 200 fly and the 100 free, as well as team relays during her 2 years. 

In addition to coaching for the club, Kristy was the assistant coach for the Girls Varsity swim team from 2006 to 2011.  Her responsibilities included stroke and turn development, race strategies, sprint training, and mentoring.

She has a true love for the sport of swimming and stays current with stroke technique and training strategies through clinics and collaboration with other experienced coaches, to ensure a high quality of coaching in and out of the pool with dryland training.  She implements her knowledge of child development, teaching strategies, and social development into her coaching, so that all swimmers have fun and become stronger and more confident swimmers.  Swimmers with Coach Kristy learn the thrill of competitive swimming.
